I remember the day I called and talked to Curt. I was working for Child Protective Services and had removed two children from their parents; it was an emotional day to say the least! I received my bachelor’s degree in social work and worked with CPS for two years. That day, speaking to Curt, I knew that I was no longer a fit for the job I was working. Curt reassured me that I was a perfect candidate for TTA and on complete faith I signed up for the program. With the assistance of Stephanie, I was accepted for the SELF loan. I originally signed up for the April 2016 class, but had difficulty closing cases for CPS and leaving some of my families I had worked with. Again, with the amazing help and encouragement from Stephanie and Curt, I was enrolled for the June starting date. I anxiously left Texas and flew to Minnesota to begin The Travel Academy. Having my degree and all of my previous work experience and knowledge could not have prepared me as much as TTA did. The experience I gained from this program is priceless. Going back, the only thing I would change is the fact that I didn’t decide to enroll in this program years earlier. At first it was hard being back in a classroom and there were times I questioned if this was for me. The teachers and my classmates were always supportive and we all helped each other along the way. I learned more than travel knowledge, I learned invaluable life lessons that I will have for the rest of my working career.
