Imagine working amidst private woods, lapping waves, and breathtaking views of massive Lake Superior. During my weekend reprieve to Larsmont Cottages, I was awe struck by the surrounding beauty of the property, and the high minded level of customer service from the front desk, waitstaff, chef, housekeeping, and guest services. This experience at Larsmont reminded me of what we teach in customer service and sales training at The Travel Academy. I could easily envision our students working in this beautiful environment, and professional company like Odyssey.
While adults enjoyed complimentary wine tasting, the front desk was incredibly attentive, offering crafts and activities to keep the children occupied. The front desk agent gave a personal touch, coloring and building marshmallow snowmen with the children, while parents relaxed barside. The bartender was incredibly knowledgeable; welcoming guests with several tastings, and never rushing people along.
In addition to a helpful staff willing to suggest off-property activities for guests, the resort offers complimentary smore’s by the fire, snowshoeing, sledding, and illuminated lantern lighting over Lake Superior. Our winter day was not complete without experiencing the wood-fired sauna, with a phone installed so to order refreshing beverages delivered while basking in sauna, including smoothies!
We enjoyed the heated pool, and outdoor hot-tub amenities so much, that the front desk staff ended up reminding us of our dinner reservations when they noticed we may be late. If they would hot have given us a friendly reminder, we would’ve missed our dining time, and the restaurant would have been closed. At dinner the chef interacts with guests, discussing favorite culinary delights, and the waitstaff was extremely prompt, and professional, addressing us as Ma’am and Sir, and making light conversation.
